Media Literacy Curricula For Middle School – Professional Development

February 16, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm

$10

Recommended for 5th-8th grade educators

In this workshop, we will explore the challenges that media has created for middle-school students as well as the opportunities that it ignites. We will also introduce educators to our wide range of middle school instructional tools including Cyber Cipher: Decoding Social Networks and our project-based learning module, Digital Climate Change: Texting and Tweeting Your Way to a Better World. These tools address different aspects of media literacy to give educators a variety of options in order to best serve their students, whether they need an introduction to online safety and healthy communities, a deeper dive into the ways technology is integrated into our lives, or a hands-on project that develops empathy.

We will also share our experiences with implementing these tools in schools and ideas that educators and students have shared with us along the way. Upon completion of the workshop, all New Hampshire educators will receive a copy of the curriculum at no additional cost thanks to a grant from the NH Department of Justice. The registration fee is $10 and includes light refreshments.

COVID-19 Policies: We ask that you wear a mask while inside the workshop area unless eating or drinking and maintain social distance when possible.
