The Power of Prevention Podcast and its producers recently received recognition by Ragan Communications at the 2022 PR Daily Awards. The award acknowledges the best work in Health Care PR and Marketing. The PR Daily Awards pay tribute to campaigns that tell timely stories and create meaningful messages.
The Power of Prevention Podcast is one aspect of the overall communications work John Snow, Inc. (JSI), New Hampshire Office; Community Health Institute (CHI) is doing on behalf of The Partnership @drugfreeNH.
Public health focuses on prevention of disease and health promotion rather than the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The Power of Prevention Podcast is an important media-based tool for educating the public about changes that prevent or reduce illness and disease related to substance misuse and mental health.
Launched in 2021, each podcast episode provides important information about alcohol and other drug prevention. It also features some of the great work taking place in the Granite State in the prevention arena. To date, topics have included student assistance programs in schools, how to deal with anxiety, pain management without prescription drugs, how community non-profits responded to the global pandemic, a look at the juvenile justice system, and many more.

JSI/CHI garnered recognition for three campaigns at this year’s prestigious awards celebration. The other two recognized campaigns are the RI Rhode Rules – Public Service Campaign and the Tick Free NH – Marketing Campaign.
