TIROES Training – Understanding the Mind-Body Response to Chronic Loneliness

Mirroring trauma, persistent and pervasive loneliness can have a large negative effect on a person’s health, functionality, and overall well-being. Please join consultant, Dr. Laura Leone, in exploring chronic loneliness, its factors, and how it differs from social isolation and social inaction. The impact and long-term effects that chronic loneliness can have on the mind and body will be discussed, drawing similarities to our understanding of the trauma response. The presentation will conclude with specific and targeted emotional, physical, and social approaches and solutions to oppose chronic loneliness and improve meaningful connections.

This training is for a general audience, which may include local and state government agencies, mental health and substance use treatment providers and nonclinical organizations that wish to expand their TIROES knowledge. Each participant will receive a certificate of completion after the training. This training is $90 per participant.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognize factors of loneliness and how it differs from social isolation and social inaction.
  2. Gain an understanding of the impact that chronic loneliness can have on the brain and body.
  3. Learn of specific and targeted emotional, physical, and social approaches and solutions to combat chronic loneliness.
