ARCNH logo

The primary goals of the national suicide prevention strategy include raising public awareness about suicide and better identification and referral of people at risk for suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

Some of the key components covered in the training are:

  • How to question, persuade, and refer someone who may be suicidal
  • How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide
  • The common causes of suicidal behavior
  • The warning signs of suicide
  • How to get help for someone in crisis

Learning objectives:

  1. Understand and cite some of the common myths and facts surrounding suicidal behavior
  2. Recognize and identify at lease three suicide warning signs
  3. Understand means reduction and how to immediately reduce risk
  4. Recognize and identify three protective factors against suicide
  5. Learn how to ask about potential suicidal intent

Provided in partnership with Harbor Care. This program has been approved for 2.0 Category A Continuing Education Credits by the National Association of Social Workers, NH Chapter. CE #4222.
