Community and Connection

Building Confidence and Protection

Kids who are engaged in hobbies, sports, or community activities are significantly less likely to try alcohol and other substances. Providing opportunities for your children to pursue their interests encourages identity development, building skills, and self-confidence.

Depending where you live and what your child is interested in, it may be difficult to find opportunities for them to get involved. You may be concerned about the cost of providing these opportunities for your child. Don’t give up! Many programs and local civic organizations offer financial assistance, so don’t be afraid to reach out and ask if financial aid is available.
