Media Power Youth has recently updated its foundational media literacy curriculum, Media Literacy for Safe and Healthy Choices. This evidence-based educational resource contains lessons on how media and technology shape our habits and attitudes around health and wellness while engaging students in a hands-on health fair project.
The curriculum continues to address nutrition and substance use with new content on vaping and stress management. It includes traditional media examples such as TV advertising and packaging as well as social media, gaming, and news stories. It is recommended for grades 4-6.
This 2.5-hour online session is designed for both teachers who are currently teaching the curriculum, as well as teachers who are interested in exploring these topics in their classrooms. Educators who attend will receive a digital copy of the curriculum, teacher’s guide, and digital assets.
The professional development and the curriculum materials are available to NH educators free of charge thanks to our partners:
NH Center for Excellence, NH Department of Justice, and Youth Enrichment Partnership. For questions, please contact claire.garand@mediapoweryouth.org. To register or learn more about this event and Media Power Youth, visit mediapoweryouth.org/events.
