January 23rd, 24th, & 25th

8:30am–4:00pm each day

This training will be remote ONLY

PRESENTATION: Project SUCCESS (Schools Using Coordinated Community Efforts to Strengthen Students) prevents and reduces substance abuse among adolescents, by providing a full range (universal, selective and indicated) of substance use prevention strategies.  These include a prevention education series, school wide awareness activities, counseling and skills training, screening and referral, and environmental strategies.  This training will provide practical strategies for implementing Project SUCCESS virtually and in person and address current individual student and school COVID related challenges regarding substance use prevention.  New Hampshire adaptations will also be discussed.  This training will be held remotely.  As a result of attending this training participants will:

  • Learn how to deliver the Prevention Education Series in classrooms virtually or in person;
  • Learn how to assess students for Project SUCCESS or other services; and 
  • Learn how to lead a group for students of parents with a Substance Use Disorder.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:

Ellen Morehouse, LCSW, CASAC, CPP is an entertaining and engaging nationally known substance abuse prevention expert that has presented to parents, professionals, and school and community groups in 44 states.  She is the creator of three national model substance abuse prevention programs.  As Executive Director of Student Assistance Services Corporation, she has been the recipient of grants from the CDC, the U.S. Dept. of Education, the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and the National Institute on Drug Abuse.  Ellen has published several articles in professional journals, has appeared on a number of television shows including Good Morning America, Nightline and ABC Network News and has been interviewed by People Magazine, Reader’s Digest, Psychology Today, Family Circle, Women’s Day, Good Housekeeping, Redbook, Harper’s Bazaar, and Parents Magazine.  She was one of the founders and is an advisory board member of the National Association for Children of Alcoholics.

Tim Lena, MSW, CPS has been practicing as a Student Assistance Counselor in Southern NH for 35 years.  He currently is serving on the public seat as Prevention Professional  for the Governor’s Commission on Alcohol and Drugs and was the former Prevention Task Force Chair.  He is also the current director of the Southern Rockingham Coalition for Healthy Youth (SoRocknh.org) and past president of the NH Prevention Certification Board

Beverly Pierce, LCSW, CASAC, CPP is Director of Mental Health Services at Student Assistance Services Corp.  She oversees the day to day operations of an adolescent mental health center.  She also has her own psychotherapy practice in White Plains, NY.    Ms. Pierce has been working in the field of mental health for over 30 years.

Andrea Fallick, LCSW, CASAC, CPP is the Director for School Based Programs at Student Assistance Services Corp. Ms. Fallick provides training and consultation to professionals, parents and community groups on a wide variety of adolescent, substance abuse, bullying, and other youth related issues. She has presented over 300 workshops for mental health, substance abuse, and education professionals including presentations at county wide, statewide and national conferences. Ms. Fallick provides training across the country to agencies and school districts replicating Project SUCCESS and the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.

NH Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors Association has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider. ACEP No 6754. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. NHADACA is solely responsible for all aspects of the program.
