Parents, caregivers and providers play an important role in guiding how teens use social media. But it can be hard to know where to start! What type of content might a young person encounter on social media? How can we recognize and respond to potential risks?
Join Dusty Jepkema, social worker at Integrated Services of Kalamazoo, and Amanda Stark, project manager, National Council for Mental Wellbeing, in partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics Center of Excellence on Social Media and Youth Mental Health for How to Support Youth as They Engage with Social Media. This live virtual event on Monday, June 17, 3:30-4:30 p.m. ET, will explore how social media impacts youth differently and how to bring a culturally responsive lens to the conversation.
The webinar will also explore how to respond when a young person encounters harmful content and how to recognize when a young person may need extra support. Presenters will discuss how providers can empower youth and their families to use social media in a way that feels healthy.
