Development of Eat, Sleep, Console Care Tool

This webinar will review approaches to care for opioid-exposed newborns focusing on the Eat, Sleep, Console (ESC) approach developed at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital and transformed into a structured patient/family-centered assessment and nonpharmacologic ESC Care Tool.

Short-term health outcomes following introduction of the ESC Care Tool for two Northern New England perinatal quality improvement initiatives will also be presented illustrating the improvements for the care of opioid-exposed infants by using the ESC Care Tool.

The educational presentation will be a Lunch and Learn format, with opportunity for questions and answers/discussion.

Upon completion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

• Discuss the main components of the ESC care approach and its development into the ESC Care Tool
• List key steps for introducing the ESC Care Tool into care of opioid-exposed newborns
• Describe how implementation of the ESC Care Tool improves health outcomes for opioid-exposed newborns
