Prevention doesn’t just happen. It’s not a singular event or one-time campaign. It’s a vibrant, interconnected ecosystem: passionate providers, engaged parents, dedicated professionals, and forward-thinking funders working together to inspire hope and create opportunities for our youth. At the Partnership @drugfreeNH, we’ve had the privilege of sharing your stories through our Power of Prevention podcast series, where we elevated your actions and celebrated your tireless efforts to make New Hampshire a place where every young person can truly thrive.
Sharing your Stories of Prevention
Your prevention stories included efforts to:
- Make sure new parents can readily respond to the emotional and financial needs of their babies.
- Create inclusive, safe spaces for youth of all identities and backgrounds.
- Elevate youth voices through meaningful civic engagement.
- Foster ways to mentor and serve as trusted adults to vulnerable youth.
- Teach essential coping skills to help youth deal with big emotions.
- Address stigma related to substance use and mental health – making it easier to offer and ask for help.
- Support model school policy that prioritizes learning, health education, and relationships over exclusionary discipline.
- Facilitate open, fact-based conversations with youth about how substance use affects the brain, body, and motivation.
- Strengthen families to avoid addiction in the next generation.
- Showcase how families can partner with schools to help their child.
The Work Continues
While the podcast is wrapping up its final interview, the vital work of supporting youth and preventing substance use is far from over. Your dedication continues to make a significant difference!
Moving forward, we will continue to highlight promising programs and impactful initiatives through our channels, including our Partnership convenings, Prevention Blog posts, and Facebook Lives – because we know you’ll never stop addressing the factors and conditions that improve youth mental health and substance use prevention in your communities.
