Families & Addiction

This introductory workshop explores how the addiction of the individual affects the entire family system. Special attention will be paid to the effects on children in the family. The discussion will center on strategies and resources to help increase their resiliency and coping skills. This workshop is preapproved for three CEs.

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

• Describe the effects of addiction on the family;
• Recognize roles within a family with addiction;
• Identify strengths and needs associated with particular behavioral patterns of children and families with addiction; and
• Make appropriate interventions and referrals to community-based resources.
